Andy Warhol
Andy Warhol (1928–1987) war ein amerikanischer Künstler, einer der Hauptvertreter der amerikanischen Pop Art. In der von ihm gegründeten „Factory“ waren Mitarbeiter und Freunde damit beschäftigt, ihm bei der Produktion seiner Kunst zu helfen. Der Erfolg Andy Warhols, der sich ab den frühen 1960ern mit Medienbildern von Superstars beschäftigte, führte dazu, dass Sammler und Geldadel sich von ihm porträtieren ließen.
Darüber hinaus schuf er experimentelle Filme, gründete die Zeitschrift „Interview“ und war der Musikproduzent der Rockband „Velvet Underground“. Als Andy Warhol im Alter von 58 verstarb hinterließ er ein umfangreiches Gesamtwerk, das von einfachen Werbegrafiken bis zu Gemälden, Objekten, Filmen und Büchern reicht.
